Powder coating is an extremely attractive protective coating with a really high quality finish that is very durable, it is extremely hard wearing, weather proof, UV resistant and it will greatly increase the life span of your products. There is an extensive range of colours which are available in a matt, satin, high gloss and metallic finish and also in a range of textures from very fine to course which are designed to hide surface imperfections.

POWDER COATING PROCESS :

Electro statically charged polyester powder (in one of its myriad of colours) are sprayed with a special gun onto components which are electrically grounded until the powder adheres evenly to their surfaces. It is then melted to between 180/200'C dependent on the powder formulation in a curing oven until it fuses into a solid film of protective polyester paint.

PRE-TREATMENT PROCESS :

This process is arguably the most important part of powder coating as it defines the longevity of the end product, this involves the complete removal of any dirt, oil, grease. corrosion, rust or other contaminants. We use a Phosphoric acid immersion dip for Aluminium and for iron or steel we sandblast with with a fine grit medium and for more delicate precision parts we Vapour blast.

ALLOY WHEEL REFURBISHMENT PROCESS :

Alloys are chemically stripped, minor kerbing and scratches are polished out, Alloys are then immersion dipped in a Phosphoric acid solution to remove all old ingrained corrosion so that it can not return and prematurely lift the new paint coating. Alloys are then degassed at 220c for 20 minutes to help to minimize pinholes and micro blisters in the new paints surface, a high build powder primer coat is then applied, Alloys are powder coated again in the colour of your choice and then Alloys are finally powder coated in a very durable and hard wearing architectural quality ultra clear protective lacquer.
