Abrasive blasting, Shot blasting, Grit blasting or Sand blasting as it is more commonly known as, is really a method of forcibly propelling with compressed air a stream of grit particles that are fired under visual control. We actually use a fine grit media because we find it is the best medium to sandblast with, as it does not damage or pockmark the metals surface too much.
Media blasting as it is also known as will roughen a smooth surface, smooth a rough surface, it can also etch away rust, corrosion and old paint.
